Happy Summer Solstice! 🌞Today marks the longest and brightest day of the year. And, whilst I sit here typing on LinkedIn instead of putting my tent up at Glastonbury, (not that I'm bitter), I saw a few parallels - yes, really - between the solstice and the world of legal recruitment. Just as the Summer Solstice brings renewed light, it also illuminates exciting opportunities for the future and the promise of better days - much like myself, as a Recruitment Consultant! Bit of a reach? Probably, but you get the idea. What I'm really trying to get at here is that the right opportunity could be just around the corner for you and unless you pause and reflect on your current situation, you may never take that leap to find out. So, this Summer Solstice, harness the momentum of the market at the moment. Reflect and pause - is your role really providing with everything you need to grow professionally? Could there be a better opportunity waiting for you? My DMs are always open, or give me a call on 0115 758 8016 - happy to have a chat with no obligations and always in the strictest confidence.#future #opportunities #recruitment

You may recall that we released the results of our annual Planner Jobs Careers Survey earlier this year and it wasn't all easy reading. We knew that planners are overstretched and under-resourced; but the survey revealed the the extent to which that's translating into difficulties recruiting and retaining suitably qualified staff. We think this is such a critical issue that we made a short film distilling the results and setting out one or two potential solutions from the Royal Town Planning Institute. Take a look - and please share and comment (share your experiences, offer your solutions). This matters.https://lnkd.in/ev4ANAYe#townplanning #careers #recruitment #placemaking

Tricia Velthuizenis the ideas woman in our family home.I am the project manager, engineer and any other role that lets me wear hi-vis. She went hiking in Tasmania, saw the apple farms and had an idea for an orchard. So, I built her an orchard, espalier style.Espalier is a way of training trees, shrubs, and woody vines against a wall, fence or trellis. It's an ancient growing technique that originated in the small courtyards of ancient Rome and is considered by many to be an art form.Okay, it was Tricia that dreamed up the espalier bit, but it was me that used the plumb line, dug the trenches, and lopped the posts.Together, we wired the fencing and shovelled the dirt, planted, fertilised and mulched the trees. And now we have fruit. It gives me a real kick to go pick our own crop to share. Some say it is a labour of love which is probably a good way of describing it because I am not a man who writes romantic cards or makes flowery speeches.I make her an orchard. 🍊But I do believe that the best of any working relationships starts in a shared vision. No matter what you are doing in your career, find people who share the same goal and work with them.It will make the challenges easier, the successes more rewarding and when your projects bear fruit, it will be great to share.Except the grapefruits, lucky for me, no-one wants to share those. Join my wife Tricia, myself, and the wholeChurchill Education team as we help you gain valuable recognition for the work you've already done.Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) might just help you gain that next promotion, new job, career change, or even change your life like so many of our graduates.Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gNCpWTWZ#careers#personaldevelopment#jobinterviews#education

Today’s thankful and thriving Thursday is dedicated to everyone who participated in Stone Mountain High School’s Career Exploration Day! I want to give a huge shout-out to Sydney Matheny, Asst. Project Manager from HITT Contracting and Sherle Brown of the Real Estate Career Academy and UGA for joining me to promote careers in real estate. Sherle, Sydney, and I shared that our industry has more than 500,000 open positions ranging from A to Z including construction and property management. I was so encouraged by these motivated students eager to join the workforce. Did you or a team member spend time in a classroom this week? If not, why not? Are you simply relying on your recruiting team to sift through inbound inquiries or are you willing to get in the classroom and fire these students up for opportunities in your company?Think of a person who invested in you. Knowledge doesn’t simply come out of a book, it comes through experience. The best way to harvest the best and the brightest is to be with them on the front line in the classroom. Long-term success happens organically. Plant. Cultivate. Harvest.Get thirsty for new talent and tune into classrooms!#RECA #experientiallearning #staythirsty #RPMCareers #CTAE #CareerPathways
